Hello ladies,
So that post about transitioning is not up yet but I hope this post is enough compensation. I finally threw in the towel and texlaxed my hair after a 23 week stretch. I am happy that this stretch was hitch free and I made a better attempt to take care of my own hair when wearing wigs than I have in the past year or so.
MY TEXLAX DAY METHOD
My texlax process was the same as always:
- I parted my hair in 5 sections. Three at the back and two at the front.
- I gently detangled my hair thoroughly ( this took forever and a day because I had a lot of new growth and I didn’t want to irritate my scalp)
- I covered my hair and new growth with a mixture of castor oil and olive oil
- I use Organic Roots Stimulator No Base relaxer. I used a little over half the jar and mixed it with 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- My sister applied the relaxer to the new growth at the back sections and when she was done I applied some relaxer to the front section. The application and smoothening the relaxer in my new growth took 18 minutes in total.
- I rinsed out the relaxer and shampooed with a neutralizing shampoo 3 times. I deep conditioned with a mixture of protein and moisture conditioners for about 50 minutes.
- I rinsed out the deep conditioner, applied my leave-in conditioners and blow dried using the medium heat setting.
I dragged some lipstick on my face in an attempt to look semi-presentable and hide some of my tiredness before I took a whole bunch of pictures. I decided to trim 2 inches off and I was done at that point and so I didn’t take any more pictures after my trim but I will after my next wash day.
Now my last stretch is over I am on to this current one. I intend to stretch for 21 or maybe 23 weeks and going forward I will trim off two inches every time I texlax. I genuinely don’t want longer hair. Don’t get me wrong, I think hair longer and bigger than mine is absolutely gorgeous but I am not willing to put in more work than I currently do on my hair……so waist length it is.
I hope that your hair journeys are going well. I hope you are learning how to care for your hair in a way that allows it to thrive. I hope that your are resolving the problems you might have with your hair little by little.
How is your hair journey going?

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous!

Thank you Shala …..( I am blushing over here)
🙂
Nice results, Lade. 18 minutes for the entire head. Thankfully, you have your sister to help you out. I usually do the half and half method because I can’t finish my entire head in time.
Author
Thank you so much dear. My sis does have her uses 🙂
Even with us two the 18 minutes is a mad rush. Being prepped and making sure my hair is well detangled before starting helps.
I thought about doing the half and half method but knowing me I would end up getting my full head wet.
xx and see you at some event soon.
Gorgeous! Your full length can’t even fit into the pictures…your hair and the healthy ends… Just so beautiful!

Lol…thank you Juditherese
It just means my camera is rubbish and I need to invest in a proper one.
Oh Lade. I practically drool over pictures of your hair. Lool! And I think waist length suits you though I sometimes imagine you with floor length hair. Lmao! Do have an awesome weekend ahead.

Floor length hair….I think that would actually scare me and my wash days would become wash weeks 🙂
I am loving waist length too
Thank you so much for your warm comment and I hope you are having a great week

Always await your texlax updates, seeing drool worthy hair is worth the wait.I would also guess having longer hair even as long as your takes extra work.Love the site.

Thank you Aurora, it does take extra work and I dread my wash days sometimes but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.
Happy hair journey

Lade, I’m 11 days post relaxer and I can’t wait to relax my hair next week. This is my first time stretching my relaxer and honestly your blog was an eye opener for me. In fact you inspired me to start this hair journey. I hope the stretches will become easier as time goes by. Seeing ur hair after stretching for 23 weeks (I’m awed) inspires me to hold out for 12 weeks. Hopefully it will be worth it. Wish me luck!

Best of luck Ava!!!!!
You can do it Ava!!!!!
Thank you so much and stretching for 12 weeks is certainly worth doing. It does get easier…or should I say you become familiar with the challenges of stretching and how to adapt to it.
Stay motivated and inspired

Hi Lade,
I want to start by appreciate your work here, I am really impressed and your blog has been a guide in the last 6months of my hair journey. I have a fine/thin hair and my last texlaxed date was April 24th(From that point I started my hair journey), after 26weeks I decided to texlax again but unfortunately my hair was over processed due to change of relaxer. I normally would use VITALE Olive Oil but it’s very scare I couldn’t find in any store. So I settled for ORS Olive Oil and meeen it was too strong, Application and massage was for about 12minutes. I was unable to achieve the texlaxed texture(Am sad about it cos my hair is soft and light) Any advice on our how I can make my hair fuller? The ends of my hair has actually gained some weight(not for light) but the root is glued to my head. I have been following all your hair regimen for the past 6month. Am thinking even if my hair grows so long it might not be so full because of the nature of my hair(Fine/thin) am I correct? Can I change relaxer again in April when I re-touch? which would you advice?
Omg! Love the results. It was most defiantly worth the wait. Do you believe have long hair is genetic or is it just more toward maintaining a healthy diet ( water, vitamins from different food, exercising) ? Enjoy reading this post !

Thank you Renee 🙂
Yes our hair length and thickness is genetically pre-determined BUT majority of us are genetically supposed to have LONG HAIR. Even people genetically predisposed to have shorter hair should be able to grow at least 12 inches of hair.
What happens however is that because of bad hair practices and unhealthy life styles most of us don’t realiseor see our hairs real growth potential.
A healthy hair journey and a healthy lifestyle is how we can find out how long our hair is genetically capable of growing.
I hope that helps, makes sense and inspires you to find out what your own hairs real potential is.
happy hair journey

Hi, lade. Thumbs up for rehairducation. It has really been helpful. Buh I’ll like to know is it’s good for to steam hair immediately after a retouch, as well as to roll-set hair. Thanks
Author
Thank you for your comment and I am glad Hairducation gets your approval.
Steaming also known as deep conditioning should definitely be done on your relaxer day. roller set is also better for you than blow drying.
I hope that helps

Hey Lade, I have a question for you. If your natural roots are growing in but you have relaxed ends how do you texlax two different hair types and avoid breakage?
Author
You cant change hair that is relaxed into texlaxed hair. Only natural hair can have relaxer applied to it to make it become texlaxed.
if you want to transition from fully relaxed hair to texlaxed hair you will have to trim/cut off the relaxed hair gradually over time.
By the way relaxer should never be applied to hair that is already relaxed.
I hope this helps

Lade
I hope that
Hi Lade! I’ve been natural since 2004 but I haven’t had much success with length retention until now. I have been following your advice for about 1 year and I’m happy to report that I retained 5 inches of hair but replicating your methods. I can’t tell you how much you have helped me on my very very long hair journey. Once I started doing the things that you recommend, my hair seemed to say “thank you.” I really appreciate that you have taken the time to create this website and share all your knowledge with us…for FREE! I thank you and my hair thanks you as well.

thank you so much, your words of encouragement are appreciated more than you realise. Most importantly I am just so happy that you are seeing progress with your hair and that what works for me (a texlaxed lady) works for you (a natural lady) . this is just shows that good care is all that is needed for all hair types to thrive. Happy hair journey to you and your hair

Hi Dear Lade,
Love the detail and effort put into this blog, when are you starting your video blogs? They are so ‘now’ and great for visualisation; great way to demonstrate what you are doing so I can better follow your guide. Is this something you plan to do soon?
Keep up the great work dear

Hello Taiwo
thank you soooooooooo much for your comment. I would like to create and upload videos at some point but like blogging most people don’t realise how long it can take to create, edit and upload videos of good quality especially for someone like me who has zero experience of it.
It is something I would like to do and hopefully in the near future but I cant say when exactly for now. Please bear with me 🙂

hi, am 13 weeks post relaxer about texlax . I hope it went well. thank you so much . u re d best
I couldn’t wait to tell someone about my journey. So i have been on this tight schedule that has refused me the oppurtunity to care for my hair. I tried relaxing my hair recently and it just stayed the same and blew out it self. But i had the best day today. I was late so i just moisturized the hair and i didnt even have to comb it. The tight schedule is really crapping my style????????????.
However, your hair looks absolutely gorgeous, my hair isnt even bra strap length yet and i am suffering a lot. When i get here, i will employ help for the hair. Hope u having a great time. Great week ahead dear.
xoxo
