THE GIVEAWAY WINNER

Hello ladies

Let me start by saying thank you to all the participants for the giveaway. There were 27 ladies who entered the competition.

As promised I collated the list of entrants and selected a winner using Random.org.
As can be seen in the picture below, the winner of the giveaway is entrant 22: Bosa.
I contacted Bosa last week and she has received the hair dryer and soft hood bonnet. She was so happy to find out she won and I am certain she will make good use of the gifts.

TRIM UPDATE

Hello ladies

Let me start by saying big thank you to all those who have entered the giveaway. I will sort through all the entries tomorrow and hopefully announce a winner before the end of this week. Good luck ladies.

THE TRIM

Air dried hair at three weeks post.

So I trimmed my hair on my last wash day. I was almost three weeks post.
I prefer to trim my hair a few weeks after my relaxer rather than on the day I actually relax. This is because I tend to blow dry my hair on relaxer day however majority of the time I air dry my hair. I personally believe in trimming hair when it is in the state you wear it majority of the time.
My hair is texlaxed so it is straighter and longer when blow dried and it is thicker and shorter when air dried. I simply prefer to trim my hair when it is in its air dried state.
Please note that there are several ladies who trim their hair on relaxer day and there is nothing wrong with this. Do whatever works for you.

My trim was a little weird. Because I am simply maintaining my hair at waist length I wasn’t paying too much attention to what I was doing. I literally grabbed my scissors and trimmed ends that looked too thin and damaged. I parted my hair into two and just chopped. I did a bad job. One side is a bit longer than the other but I am not too bothered. I will fix it on another wash day. I think I trimmed one and half inches off.

I don’t have the blunt ends I long for and on my mission to get it I will be more consistent with moisturising and sealing. I truly slacked on that front during my last stretch. I intend to stick with my regimen so no more postponing of wash days. Lets see how my ends are at the end of the year.

L’OREAL – BECAUSE WE’RE WORTH IT

Hello Ladies,

I was so thrilled to be invited by L’Oreal to a Tea Party they hosted for beauty bloggers on 1^st of March at their office in Lagos.

Getting to the event, I really didn’t know what to expect but I have to say I had a fantastic time. After a warm welcome and being signed in, I got to mingle with other bloggers and writers before the event started. Everyone was so lovely and I felt at ease from the get go.

As the event kicked off, we had brief and informative talks from the L’Oreal team. They discussed L’Oreal as a company and Maybelline and Dark and Lovely as brands. We were introduced to various products that are already available in Nigeria as well as those that will be launched soon.

We had a tour of the very funky L’Oreal office, were treated to lunch and given a goodie bag. I will do a little review of the goodies soon.

All in all, it was a fab way to spend part of my weekend. A big well done to the L’Oreal Nigeria team for pulling off a professional yet down to earth event.

Okay I haven’t forgotten that I am a hair care blogger. I often get asked about dandruff and that will be the topic of my next post. I try to tread carefully when talking about dandruff because it is scalp condition, so I will do a bit of research and have the post up soon

RELAXER UPDATE No 2

Hello ladies

I texlaxed my hair in mid February and followed my usual process which can be seen here.
It went smoothly and I am super thrilled with the result of my 6 months stretch. I think I will stretch for 6 months going forward.
The key improvement I noticed with this stretch is how much thicker my hair feels. My hair strands have not multiplied of course. I attribute the increased thickness to the 3 inches of new growth I had and very little breakage because my hair was protected under my wigs and I was not manipulating my hair. Basically I didn’t lose too many hair strands over the last 6 months.

Length wise I did a really bad job in doing a proper length check.
I usually try to take length check pictures the same day I relax however I finished very late at night so I simply cross wrapped my hair and went to bed. The next day I was surprised that I still had that fresh blow dry swing in my hair which I tried to capture in the pictures above and below..

I attempted to do a length check however because of the cross wrap I did the night before, my hair had bends in it. So I moisturised and sealed and finger combed to get it to hang straight. As soon as I moisturised my hair, that fresh blow dried swing disappeared and my hair was somewhat weighed down. Also because my hair is texlaxed, when I moisturised my hair it changed from being bone straight and the kinks left in my hair returned.
I took the pictures below and then had to dash out.

Two days after I texlaxed I realised that I had not done a back shot so I took down my bun, moisturised and sealed and finger combed. By the time the pictures below were taken my hair was a little greasy and stringy but at least it shows where my hair is at the moment.

Although it is a little past waist length, I will hang on to my waist length tag because that is my goal length and I intend trim 2 inches off in a week or so. I am determined to remove my older thinner ends. I don’t know when or if I will ever get the blunt ends I am looking but I am more than happy with what I do have. I am just glad this stretch is over and I am ready to do it all again.

TIME FOR A GIVEAWAY!!!

This post should have been up on Tuesday but I am still going through a very busy period. Not that I am complaining but I am sorry to have kept you waiting.

I am very happy to have the first giveaway on Hairducation. I thought about what gift I could give a reader. Naturally I wanted something that would be great for a hair journey. I decided to give the gift of deep conditioning. We all know how important deep conditioning is for keeping black hair soft and strong.

THE PRIZE

As I indicated in my last post, there are two items in the prize. The first is a hair dryer bonnet. This is plugged into the end of a hand dryer to create the same effect as hood dryer. It can be used for deep conditioning and hot oil treatments. It can also for roller sets.
This is how I have deep conditioned my hair throughout my hair journey.

As you may have already guessed, the second part of the gift is a hand held hair dryer. I chose a 2 speed and 3 temperature setting hair dryer. I was determined to find one that had a cool temperature option so that the winner can blow dry her hair with cool air.
