TRIM UPDATE

Hello ladies

Let me start by saying big thank you to all those who have entered the giveaway.  I will sort through all the entries tomorrow and hopefully announce a winner before the end of this week.  Good luck ladies.

                                           THE TRIM

Trim and hair update

Air dried hair at three weeks post.

So I trimmed my hair on my last wash day.  I was almost three weeks post.
I prefer to trim my hair a few weeks after my relaxer rather than on the day I actually relax.  This is because I tend to blow dry my hair on relaxer day however majority of the time I air dry my hair.  I personally believe in trimming hair when it is in the state you wear it majority of the time.
My hair is texlaxed so it is straighter and longer when blow dried and it is thicker and shorter when air dried. I simply prefer to trim my hair when it is in its air dried state.
Please note that there are several ladies who trim their hair on relaxer day and there is nothing wrong with this.  Do whatever works for you.

My trim was a little weird.  Because I am simply maintaining my hair at waist length I wasn’t paying too much attention to what I was doing.   I literally grabbed my scissors and trimmed ends that looked too thin and damaged.  I parted my hair into two and just chopped.  I did a bad job.  One side is a bit longer than the other but I am not too bothered.  I will fix it on another wash day.  I think I trimmed one and half inches off.

I don’t have the blunt ends I long for and on my mission to get it I will be more consistent with moisturising and sealing. I truly slacked on that front during my last stretch.  I intend to stick with my regimen so no more postponing of wash days.  Lets see how my ends are at the end of the year.

Have you trimmed your hair recently?  Did it go okay and are you happy with your ends?
I hope you will come back soon for the giveaway  winner results ( it might be you!!!) and the post on dandruff.

x

Lade

Hi Lade, I trimmed my ends recently too, and did a pretty good job compared to my first self trim which was a total disaster. This time I measured the inches 1st, then used the 2 strand twist trim method and finished with the pony tail method for a more uniformed look, I guess I was more confident using my new professional hair shears, and I was very happy with the results. Hope you get the Blunt ends soon. Cheers. S.

Hi Lade, one and a half inches off or not, your hair still looks amazing and healthier than ever. Up until recently, i was obsessed with dusting my hair regularly (and you know regular dusting equals serious trims). Thank God i’m over that phase. My last trim went well cos i did it my self and i carefully cut off about half an inch (lol, my scissors happy hands scare me). Hopes are still high for the giveaway, may we win in Jesus’ name. Take care and God bless ya! Xoxo.

    Hello Omolade,

First of all i would like to say your blog is really great. I stumbled across it yesterday when i was looking up information on starting a healthy hair journey and yours has been the most helpful. Its more remarkable because you are Nigerian and what a relief to know that we can actually grow waist length hair. I do have a question. I want to switch to lye relaxers because i don’t want that bone straight look no-lye relaxers give. I wanted to know, after i wash out the relaxer, is it okay to use a protein treatment like Aphogee’s two minute recontsructor before i use the neutralizing shampoo or is it the other was round. Looking forward to your reply. Cheers!!

      Hello Ramat
Thank you. Its funny how us Nigerian girls underestimate our hairs growth potential. all around me I see loads of ladies great hair who just don’t know how to care for it. Hopefully they will all get Hairducated eventually.
With regards to your question, yes it is okay to use the aphogee two minutes after rinsing off the shampoo before neutralizing. You can leave it on for about 5 minutes , rinse and then neutralise. make sure you deep condition after neutralising.
      Hope that helps

Your hair is da bomb diggity! almost surreal to look at! this is what I was hoping to achieve when I started my hair journey few years ago- but as life would have it, I chopped of my locks and went natural last year.

    Hi Lade!
I just started my hair journey, thanks to all the education and information from you. My problem is that my hair length is very uneven ~ longer in the back than the middle and the front. Would you recommend that I do a big trim to have equal length- which would result in shorter hair all over- or just let it be for now? Eagerly awaiting your response. Cheers!
